Crave

Posted in Reviews with tags , , on 10/19/2011 by Brett

So for a while now, I have been intrigued about sampling Crave. Aaron, who is the gentleman that distributes Crave, mentions incessantly about how great Crave is and recently, he stated on Crave’s Facebook page that if anyone is interested in reviewing Crave should let him know. So that’s exactly what I did!

Just the other day, I received my two-pouch sample of Crave in the mail and boy, was I excited to get it! I had just arrived home from work and was about to go for my walk. So I opened the package right away and poured one pouch into a bottle of water I already had waiting for me. Aaron suggests you shake or mix Crave with water or whatever other beverage you have on you for between 30-60 seconds. It may sound like a long time, but trust me: In the end, it’s worth it! I opened up the bottle of water now mixed in with the Crave flavor pouch and it had a very pleasant aroma to it. Usually, that’s a good sign. But the taste of it was even better! It came off as a green melon flavor. Not sure if that is correct, but that’s what it tasted like to me. It also had a very smooth texture to it and was easy going down.

So after drinking Crave, I went for my walk and had God knows how much energy in me. And the best part of all: Crave lived up to its billing of not giving me any crash afterwards, which most people seem to get after having a heavily-sugared energy drink. And that reminds me: Crave only contains 1 g of sugar, but it is still sweet enough to give you a great taste!

I am going to say right now I am happy of following through with obtaining my sample of Crave! It is certainly an amazing drink. Make sure you give it a try! Thank you again, Aaron!

You may order Crave on its website. You can also check out Crave on Facebook and Twitter @MoreCrave!

New Flavor From Xenergy!

Posted in Industry News with tags , , , , , on 10/06/2011 by Brett

In case you haven’t been on the Xyience website or Facebook page lately, Xyience, the manufacturer of Xenergy, the official energy drink of the UFC, has released a new flavor as part of their Xtreme (black can) lineup: Frostberry Blast! The can also features MMA Legend and current UFC fighter Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva on the can. Due to the recent success of Xenergy’s Fruit Punch flavor with another UFC fighter, Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy, on the can, Xyience looks as if they wanted to use their marketing prowess again with one of the best MMA fighters in the last decade with “The Axe Murderer.”

Frostberry Blast also replaces Citrus Slam, which was reviewed on this blog a long time ago. Frostberry Blast should now be at a store near you. If not, let’s hope it will be soon. I know I am looking forward to reviewing it myself!

Phix Sleep

Posted in Reviews with tags , , , on 10/05/2011 by Brett

So as promised, I have my review of Phix Sleep. And just like its energy brand, Phix Sleep is perfect for vegans and those with gluten allergies. Phix Sleep comes in Lemon Chamomile, which is perfect for getting a good night’s rest.

So onto the review itself: The instructions state to mix one pouch with 6-8 ounces of water. I figured let’s try the same thing as we did for the energy blend, but actually put in 8 ounces (237 mL). So I mixed the pouch and water together and let it sit in the fridge until I was one hour away from heading to bed. And just like its energy blend, a very pleasing flavor and smooth texture. This is probably how the Citron flavor was meant to taste, at least to me, but with less water.

So as I emphasized before: It all depends on your tastebuds. You may like plenty of flavor, but your less might be more as well. Please check out the Phix website!

Phix Energy

Posted in Reviews with tags , , , on 10/04/2011 by Brett

Recently, a representative from a company called Phix approached me and asked if I could sample and review their energy drink. I haven’t done a review in a while, plus this was a drink I hadn’t found yet.

Phix Energy comes in three different flavors: Citron, Tropic and Teaberry. For those of you who are vegan or have gluten allergies, Phix Energy is perfect for you! In addition to that, each pouch contains 14 vitamins and minerals and contains organic ingredients. Phix Energy comes in a flavor pouch, so all you have to do is add water. Today, I will be reviewing all three Phix Energy flavors:

Citron: Just like numerous other energy drink manufacturers, Phix Energy was a citrus flavor. Citrus seems to be a staple in the energy drink world, regardless who makes the drink. Anyway, on with the review. So as per the instructions, I added one pouch to 12-16 ounces of water. I figured to go with 16 ounces (473 mL) to see what it was like. Please be advised: Others may have a difference of opinion on flavor than myself, but with one pouch, I didn’t find it that appetizing. So I tried the second pouch later with less water. This time, 12 ounces (355 mL). It tasted better, but I still felt it wasn’t very appetizing. So I decided to treat it like a science experiment: Use less water for one pouch or use two pouches in the same amount of water as before.

Tropic: The next morning just before I went for my walk, I had a glass of Tropic Phix Energy sitting in my fridge. This time, I used two pouches in 16 ounces of water. I also like my drink to be cold, but then again, I am used to that. This time around, I was certainly more pleased with my concoction over the previous one. A nice smooth texture and with it being a tropic flavor, I felt like I went on a trip to the South Pacific without even leaving my house. But as I said: Others may find one pouch just right. It’s all in your personal taste.

Teaberry: I did the same thing the next day with the teaberry flavor as I had with the tropic flavor. And again, very pleased. For me, two pouches in 16 ounces of water is where it’s at. Teaberry was actually my favorite out of them all. More flavor to it than Tropic, which of course was good as well.

Phix also sent me a sample of pouches for their sleep formula, which I will review in a couple days. In the meantime, be sure to check out the Phix Energy website and peace!

Suggestions to update blog

Flash Energy

Posted in Reviews with tags , , on 08/26/2011 by Brett

As promised, I have another review for another energy drink from Brazil. This is another one that contains guarana, but has a different flavor compared to Guarana Antarctica. This one is called Flash Energy. Again, since the ingredients are in Portuguese, I will not be able to post the ingredients.

Flash Energy is similar to Red Bull, except there are no bulls on the can and it has more of a sweet taste, which makes it more pleasant to drink. In addition, it has guarana, which is grown in Brazil. But just like Red Bull and other energy drinks on the market, it does have B vitamins in it. I happen to like this drink better than Red Bull, due to the fact they made it sweeter in taste.

So if you ever go to Brazil, grab a can of Flash Energy. You won’t regret it.

Guarana Antarctica

Posted in Reviews with tags , , on 08/24/2011 by Brett

Recently, I received a couple energy drinks from Brazil that I figured would be good to try. Ordinarily, I would post the ingredients, but since they are in Portuguese, I will not be able to. So anyway, guarana drinks are very, very popular in Brazil. Maybe not as popular as football and MMA, but still quite popular.

The first drink I will be reviewing today is Guarana Antarctica, which is one of the most popular drinks in Brazil. If you recall from one of my earlier posts, the guarana berry is grown in Brazil and is a natural source of caffeine. This drink itself tastes just like Sprite or 7-Up. Not a bad thing, but didn’t expect that kind of flavor. It was still quite smooth and satisfying going down and it can be like crack: Very addictive. So please keep your consumption of Guarana Antarctica to a minimum, but at least give it a try.

TapouT Energy Papaya Green Tea

Posted in Reviews with tags , , , , on 07/25/2011 by Brett

So as I reported a little while back, TapouT Energy released their fourth flavor, Papaya Green Tea. I remember months ago when they first announced this flavor, it would be an interesting one to try. No other energy drink manufacturer has released papaya-flavored anything, let alone combining it with green tea. But I must say: Certainly worth trying.

Like any energy drink, TapouT Energy Papaya Green Tea is best served chilled. Like I always enjoy doing, I poured a can of PGT into a glass over ice and it has an amazingly crisp flavor to it. Very clean and refreshing. Certainly worth the hype and the wait. It is certainly on the same playing field as the other three flavors I have previously reviewed for TapouT Energy. I’ll admit: Cherry Citrus is still my favorite, but you still can’t go wrong with Papaya Green Tea or any flavor in TapouT Energy’s line-up. Keep up the good work, guys. Hope to eventually see a fifth flavor to help everyone “stay in the fight!”

Talon Energy Blood Punch Sugar Free

Posted in Reviews with tags , , , , , on 06/15/2011 by Brett

So on Monday, I reviewed Talon Energy Blood Punch. Today, I review its equally tasty Sugar Free brother! And yes, I said “Equally tasty!” The main reason I say that is because the Sugar Free version tastes very similar to its sugary brother, but obviously doesn’t have the sugar, calories or carbs! Always a bonus for anyone watching their weight and caloric intake. Absolutely kicking flavor! Quite tart, I must say, but the right amount of tart. Still very sweet, but doesn’t need the sugar. It’s already sweet enough, so to speak.

So go out and get a can of Talon Energy Blood Punch Sugar Free today.
