So a while back, I had mentioned on our Facebook page that Rockstar was releasing their SuperSours line-up in two flavors: Green Apple and Bubbleberry. I will start with Green Apple.

The last time I remember any energy drink manufacturer developing an apple flavored drink was when Xenergy had their “Big Apple” flavor, which they discontinued over four years ago. Shame, because it was actually very good. But I have never been let down by any of Rockstar’s flavors. Others I have liked more, but never stopped me from buying those other flavors ever again. Just buy the ones I like the most more so.

The Green Apple flavor definitely tastes just like a Granny Smith apple, which is my favorite kind of apple as well. I was expecting a little bit of tartness from the energy drink, maybe more so than what the actual apple would give. But I didn’t get that. Don’t get me wrong: It was sour. But it wasn’t “Makes my lips pucker up” sour. Still flavorful, but more sweet than it is sour. Definitely enjoyable, but not really what I expected.

Now for the Bubbleberry flavor: This one I didn’t expect any sourness from, though there was a little. But it tasted more like bubble gum than anything, which I did expect. Didn’t really notice any berry flavor to it, but maybe I need to drink more before I jump to such a rash decision. But I also figured they would have picked a fruit that is known for its tartness and not make it taste like bubble gum.

So overall: Green Apple and Bubbleberry tasted good, but they weren’t “super sour.” Definitely a good marketing tool on Rockstar’s part to get people who like sourness to buy this product. But this is not one of Rockstar’s more successful ventures. At least not when it comes to flavor, because their other flavors are awesome!

Today, we review the other new flavor from Xenergy: Melon Mayhem.

When I heard Melon Mayhem was on the market, I was eager to try it. Not many companies have ever gone with a melon flavored drink, so I guess you could say Xyience, the parent company of Xenergy, was taking a gamble. And how fitting, since they are based out of Las Vegas (Sorry, lame joke). Moving on.

I cracked open a can of Melon Mayhem on Christmas Day. No, I am not making that up. I knew it would be a full day playing with my eight month-old niece, knowing she had a number of gifts coming her way that she would love to play with. But I also wanted to know how it tasted. And I must say I was not disappointed. Melon Mayhem tastes just like watermelon, except you don’t have to worry about biting into any seeds (or possibly choking on them) plus there is no rind you have to worry about cutting out. Just a great drink all around.

So go ahead and sink your teeth, er, crack open a can of Melon Mayhem today. Also, please check out the Xyience website!

Today, we review one of Xenergy’s newest flavors: Tangerine Twister.

A few months ago, Xyience, the company that manufactures Xenergy, removed Cherry Rush and Orange Fuel from their line-up and added Tangerine Twister and Melon Mayhem (To be reviewed on Friday). For the record: I have still seen Cherry Rush in Canada and even Orange Rush is still being sold in the US. But onto Tangerine Twister. I have to say it is a very unique flavor. And I mean that in a good way. I could tell there was a tangerine flavor in there, but it also tasted like there was a little vanilla as well. I know a number of you will find it strange to combine those two flavors, but I felt they complimented each other, just like Xenergy’s Blu Pomegranate flavor (formerly Blu Pom) and their flagship flavor, Cran Razz, which is still on the market.

So I say give Tangerine Twister a shot. It may not be for everyone, but you never know until you try. Also, please check out the Xyience website! Friday’s review: Melon Mayhem!

So I finally tried the three flavors Xenergy offers in the US that are currently not sold in Canada. So this week is all about reviewing Xenergy. Today, we begin with Frostberry Blast.

A while back, Xyience, the company that makes Xenergy, had a picture of MMA legend Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva on the can. There may still be some cans with Mr. Silva on them, but I happened to pick up a can that didn’t have him on there. Still, if you find a can with “The Axe Murderer” on it, I recommend picking it up as a collector’s item. You never know. It might be worth something one day.

Now onto the drink itself: Since Xenergy removed Cherry Rush and Orange Fuel from their Xtreme line-up (black can), that only leaves Fruit Punch and Frostberry Blast as part of the Xtreme line-up. Frostberry Blast appears as a clear drink, but like all other flavors I have tried in Xenergy’s line-up, it is very flavorful. Frostberry Blast tastes like a blue raspberry, which is a good thing. Xyience was the first company I know of before Gamma Labs to bring in this kind of flavor for energy drinks. Very delicious!

So if you are looking for an energy drink with a different flavor (in a good way), this is the one. But I will be reviewing the two newest flavors for Xenergy this week. Also, please check out the Xyience website! Wednesday’s review: Tangerine Twister!

But I am about to review the very drink that got Gamma Labs started: Their PTF (Pre-Training Formula), which is excellent for those who love to work out. It only comes in a tropical fruit flavor, which is similar to G Fuel’s Fruit Punch. Still very tasty and if you are about to work out, it gives you the exact surge of power you need. The only thing I feel they need to do is bring it in a non-caffeine formula, just because there could be those who are caffeine-sensitive out there who would like this product. But like G Fuel, I would love it if Gamma Labs brought PTF in different flavors. Maybe bring in Lemon Lime, Grape, and any other flavor they feel will test well on the market. And just like G Fuel, you can purchase PTF in a 40 serving tub or a 20 stick box!

Hey Guys,

First of all: Happy New Year to all of you! Hope your 2013 goes as well or better as your 2012. So I promised all of you a while back that I would review a new energy drink from Gamma Labs called “G Fuel.” Unlike other energy drinks, you have to either pour a scoop or pouch of G Fuel into about 10-12 oz. of water. If any of you remember my review about Crave, G Fuel is similar to that. G Fuel comes in three different flavors: Fruit Punch, Blue Ice and Lemon Lime. Seeing as all three flavors have the same ingredients, I will review them in the same post:

Fruit Punch: This is definitely one of those flavors you just can’t screw up, no matter who makes it. An infant could perfect this flavor. Okay, that’s stretching it a little, but honestly, you can’t really screw up Fruit Punch. A number months ago, I ordered a sample for G Fuel and requested Fruit Punch. I haven’t regretted that decision by the way. I love this flavor so much, I ordered it in a tub of 40 servings. Come to think of it, I have also ordered a few tubs of it and even a few pouches of it as well. You could say that’s how much I love it!

Blue Ice: When I ordered my first tub of Fruit Punch, they had a special where you get a box of 20 sticks free. So I selected Blue Ice over Lemon Lime, just because I expected Lemon Lime to taste the same as any other company’s Lemon Lime. But I will touch on that next. Back to Blue Ice: The first pouch I tried seemed like a rather chalky blue raspberry flavor. Not sure if the flavor is correct, but that’s how it tastes to me. The Blue Ice from the tub actually tastes better than that of the pouches, or as Gamma Labs calls them, sticks. Just my opinion, but don’t take my word for it. We all have different opinions on everything.

Lemon Lime: I have to admit: I expected G Fuel’s version of Lemon Lime to taste frightfully similar to Gatorade’s version. I am happy to say I was wrong. Usually, I don’t really listen to the opinions of others. But when Brittney Palmer, UFC Octagon Girl and spokesperson for Gamma Labs, says this is her favorite flavor, you have to check it out for yourself. I’m not saying I always take advice from good-looking women, but how can you say “No” to Miss Palmer? I sure as hell couldn’t! Hey, at least I admit it. But anyway, moving on. G Fuel’s Lemon Lime is amazingly awesome! It really is. The first time I tried it, I was hooked! G Fuel’s Lemon Lime to me would be like crack to a crack addict. The good news for me is I don’t need to go through rehab afterwards. I have to admit this as well, but I actually love it better than Fruit Punch, which is also a banging flavor! Lemon Lime screamed with flavor and went down nice and smooth, just like a fine whiskey!

I hope Gamma Labs releases more flavors of G Fuel in the future. If you want my opinion: Get grape and blueberry pomegranate in there as flavors. They would be freaking awesome to have in there.

Now I know this is a blog about energy drinks, but Rockstar also makes a drink that helps you relax. And it is aptly named “Rockstar Relax.” It is a tropical guava flavor (even says so on the can). It does say it is non-carbonated, but I would say it is more so lightly carbonated. Still tastes pretty good though. And obviously, there is no caffeine. But they do pre-warn you that it causes drowsiness and that you should not operate a vehicle or heavy machinery after consumption. Not that I or anyone else with any common sense would do that, but they are right to warn us as well: It knocked me out minutes after I drank it. That’s how relaxed it made me. Not a bad thing, as I needed the sleep that night. Playing with your eight-month-old niece will wear you out, especially after she received a boatload of Christmas presents.

So if you are looking for a drink that will help you relax, but don’t feel like any alcohol: This is the drink for you! Go buy yourself a can or more today!

Ordinarily, I am not really into anything that is peach flavored, but I figured I might as well give this one a try. After all, Rockstar has never disappointed me with any of their flavors. And I’ll admit, this was no exception. I like iced tea to begin with, but this iced tea leaves the rest of them in the dust! Rockstar, you’ve done it again! Keep up the good work.

Welcome to another work week. Sorry to remind you. But today, we do have a new review. This one is about Rockstar Rehab. Just like XDurance, I was absolutely intrigued to try this one. The main reason: Rockstar Rehab contains coconut water, but with 160 mg of caffeine. Basically, this is just another flavor to the Recovery line-up, at least in a way. I didn’t mind the flavor to this one. Coconut is very good for you to begin with, but I know coconut water is not for everyone. And after the week I had (Not that my week was bad, but it was busy), I needed a drink like Rockstar Rehab. I’m not saying I will drink this one religiously when it comes to the Rockstar line-up. But I would certainly buy it again. Wednesday’s review: Rockstar Iced.
