Crave

Posted in Reviews with tags , , on 10/19/2011 by Brett

So for a while now, I have been intrigued about sampling Crave. Aaron, who is the gentleman that distributes Crave, mentions incessantly about how great Crave is and recently, he stated on Crave’s Facebook page that if anyone is interested in reviewing Crave should let him know. So that’s exactly what I did!

Just the other day, I received my two-pouch sample of Crave in the mail and boy, was I excited to get it! I had just arrived home from work and was about to go for my walk. So I opened the package right away and poured one pouch into a bottle of water I already had waiting for me. Aaron suggests you shake or mix Crave with water or whatever other beverage you have on you for between 30-60 seconds. It may sound like a long time, but trust me: In the end, it’s worth it! I opened up the bottle of water now mixed in with the Crave flavor pouch and it had a very pleasant aroma to it. Usually, that’s a good sign. But the taste of it was even better! It came off as a green melon flavor. Not sure if that is correct, but that’s what it tasted like to me. It also had a very smooth texture to it and was easy going down.

So after drinking Crave, I went for my walk and had God knows how much energy in me. And the best part of all: Crave lived up to its billing of not giving me any crash afterwards, which most people seem to get after having a heavily-sugared energy drink. And that reminds me: Crave only contains 1 g of sugar, but it is still sweet enough to give you a great taste!

I am going to say right now I am happy of following through with obtaining my sample of Crave! It is certainly an amazing drink. Make sure you give it a try! Thank you again, Aaron!

You may order Crave on its website. You can also check out Crave on Facebook and Twitter @MoreCrave!

Rockstar 2X

Posted in Reviews with tags , , , on 05/23/2011 by Brett

First of all: I would like to wish a happy Victoria Day to all of my Canadian friends! Hope you have had a good long weekend and partied hard.

Today, I am going to enjoy the rest of my long weekend as well and also review Rockstar 2X. What does the 2X stand for? It means twice the caffeine as the original Rockstar. So instead of the usual 120-160 mg of caffeine, this one crams in 250 mg. Needless to say, I was alert for the rest of the day!

This is the other Rockstar flavor that comes in a 12 fl. oz. (355 mL) can. I was expecting this one to taste very similar to the original Rockstar, which would be wild berry, and to start, I was correct. But what I really enjoyed about it is it had a nice citrus finish. Never had an energy drink that has done that before. Not sure if that was Rockstar’s intention. Either way, great job!

So if you want to stay awake during the day and not have to get another caffeine boost around 3 o’clock in the afternoon, give Rockstar 2X a try. It’s high in caffeine, but low in calories.

Don’t forget to check out the Rockstar website!

Rockstar Pink

Posted in Reviews with tags , , , on 05/20/2011 by Brett

So a while back, Rockstar released two new energy drinks in a 12 fl. oz (355 mL) can: Pink and 2X. Rockstar Pink is obviously marketed towards women. Besides the color of the can and beverage itself, it also comes with a straw, as many women like having a straw and I don’t of many, if any, men who use straws anymore. No offense, but I have noticed that as of late. But anyway, back to the drink itself.

So I decided to give it a whirl (sans straw) and I was rather impressed. Now, obviously, Rockstar Pink is not something I would drink every day, but I will admit it was rather tasty. It had a strawberry or pink grapefruit flavor to it, which was quite pleasing. Couldn’t really put my finger on the exact flavor, but it was good nonetheless.

So for any of you ladies who want to try something different or any guys who are willing to shed their machoness for a minute, give Rockstar Pink a shot. Monday: My review for Rockstar 2X!

Xenergy Fruit Punch

Posted in Reviews with tags , , , , on 05/16/2011 by Brett

So a few months ago, Xyience, the company that manufactures Xenergy Energy Drinks, decided to discontinue their Lemon Blast flavor, as part of their Xtreme (black can) line-up. It was replaced by Fruit Punch, and I must say: Good choice, Xyience! No, sorry, great choice!

While I would love it if they develop a grape-flavored energy drink, I have no problem with this one at all! Just like their previous flavors, Fruit Punch tastes great! And for any of you collectors, as well as UFC/MMA fans, there is a limited edition collector’s can with UFC fighter and Xyience spokesperson Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy posing as if he is about to deliver a jab to his opponent.

So go ahead and give Xenergy Fruit Punch a try. It will knock your tastebuds out!

Also be sure to check out the Xyience website, where you may also purchase Xenergy and other Xyience products!

Rockstar Recovery Orange

Posted in Reviews with tags , , , , on 05/13/2011 by Brett

First of all: Happy Friday the 13th! Hopefully no one has any bad luck today.

Anyway, as you recall: I reviewed Rockstar Recovery Grape back on Wednesday. Today, I will be reviewing the orange flavor.

Just like grape, it really takes a lot to screw up orange. Rockstar again made a good flavor. It smells and tastes like orange. It doesn’t have the “Like biting into an orange” kind of flavor, but certainly a pleasing flavor to keep you coming back for more. The one thing I like about the Rockstar Recovery line is they make it as if it is Gatorade, but with caffeine and without glucose-fructose, which isn’t good for you. And just like the lemonade and grape flavors, I felt this one working right away.

So if you need that quick boost in the morning or just want to try something different, Rockstar Recover Orange will certainly help. Now if they can just come out with say a blueberry or raspberry flavor. Just a thought.

Don’t forget to also check out the Rockstar website!

Rockstar Recovery Grape

Posted in Reviews with tags , , , , on 05/11/2011 by Brett

A while back, Rockstar released their lemonade flavor as the original flavor in the Recovery line-up. After the success of the lemonade flavor, Rockstar released two new flavors: Grape and Orange. Today, I will be reviewing the grape flavor.

I have always said it is extremely hard for anyone to screw up grape. Rockstar is no different. While it doesn’t actually contain anything pertaining to grape (you will see what I mean when you read the ingredients later), I still noticed it tasted like grape. How they managed it, I don’t know. But I certainly liked it. Come to think of it: I haven’t found a flavor in Rockstar’s line-up that I haven’t liked. Even when you crack open the can, you notice the aroma of grape.

At any rate: If you ever need a little help to wake up in the morning for any reason, Rockstar Recovery Grape will certainly help out!

Beaver Buzz “Stripped” Citrus

Posted in Reviews with tags , , , , , on 05/06/2011 by Brett

A while back, Beaver Buzz released two flavors as part of their “Stripped” line-up. They happen to be their two most popular flavors from the original line-up, Citrus and Saskatoon Berry. Today, I will be reviewing the Citrus flavor.

So now I know what you’re going to ask: Why are they called “Stripped?” Excellent question with an equally excellent answer. Beaver Buzz took out all the sugar and majority of calories, but not the flavor. And don’t worry: There is no aspartame in this drink. They even advertise it right on the can! So like I said: All the sugar and a bunch of calories are gone, but you still get the same great flavor as you did before from the original Citrus flavor. Not only that: Beaver Buzz’s “Stripped” line-up come in 473 mL cans! So more of it to enjoy. Honestly, I don’t think there is one drink in the Beaver Buzz line-up I haven’t liked, but I still have one or two flavors left to try.

So for those of you who love Beaver Buzz, but don’t care for all the calories, I heavily recommend you pick up a can of Beaver Buzz “Stripped” Citrus! Honestly, you won’t even notice the difference between it and the original. At least I didn’t notice.

Don’t forget to check out the Beaver Buzz website!

Monster Assault

Posted in Reviews with tags , , , on 05/04/2011 by Brett

So it has been quite a while since I posted a review. I do apologize, but there are not many other drinks out there I have not reviewed. But without further adieu, let’s begin with this review.

So I finally decided to try Monster Assault. As of late, Monster has been putting out more drinks that are more pleasing to the palate, at least to me. Your opinion, of course, may differ. Fortunately, Monster Assault falls into the pleasing category. I was wondering how it would taste and I must say, it was a unique flavor. It seemed to be like a strawberry and banana flavor. Couldn’t really describe it any better than that. Wouldn’t say it had a clean flavor, but still not something I would pass either. Certainly liked this one, but would only buy again if Monster drinks are on special.

Medicinal Ingredients per 473 mL: 2-aminoethylsulfonic acid (taurine) (synthetic) 2000 mg, ginseng (panax ginseng) (root) (2% ginsenosides) 400 mg, caffeine (synthetic) 164 mg, vitamin B3 (Niacinamide) 40 mg, d-glucuronolactone (synthetic) 10 mg, inositol (synthetic) 10 mg, guarana (paullina cupana) (seed) (22% caffeine) 10 mg, vitamin B6 (pyridoxine HCl) 4 mg, vitamin B2 (riboflavin) 3.4 mg, vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) 12 mcg.

Lo-Cal Monster

Posted in Reviews with tags , , , , on 06/30/2010 by Brett

So I decided to try Lo-Cal Monster. Just like a number of other drinks, this one has a wild berry flavor. Fortunately, this one does not fall into the “Miss” category. I remember when I originally had this four years ago, it didn’t seem good at all. But every since Monster changed from Pepsi to Coke in Canada, it’s much better. Not sure what Coke may have done to make it better, but whatever they did, they should keep doing what they’re doing!

Be sure to check out the Monster website!

Medicinal Ingredients per 473 mL: 2-aminoethylsulfonic acid (taurine) (synthetic) 2000 mg, ginseng (panax ginseng) (root) (2% ginsenosides) 400 mg, caffeine (synthetic) 134 mg, vitamin B3 (niacinamide) 40 mg, D-Glucuronolactone (synthetic) 10 mg, inositol (synthetic) 10 mg, guarana (paullinia cupana) (seed) (22% caffeine) 10 mg, vitamin B6 (pyridoxine HCL) 4mg, vitamin B2 (riboflavin) 3.4 mg, vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) 12 mcg.

Monster Energy

Posted in Reviews with tags , , on 06/16/2010 by Brett

Alright, so I decided to finally review Monster Energy. No one requested it, but I figured there had to be at least one person out there who would like to hear my take on it. The original Monster tastes like a combination of apple and pineapple flavors, which certainly work well with one another. I also like how this drinks smells. Has very pleasant overtones, like if you just opened a beer.

While I do like the taste of Monster, I’m sorry to say: It’s not one of my favorites. But I will certainly grab Monster over a number of other energy drinks out there.

Be sure to check out the Monster website!
